Jarrow Formulas® Launches ChoLess Optimizer® With Red Yeast Rice, Artichoke Extract, Tocotrienols and Sesame Seed Lignans

Los Angeles, CA, September 10, 2010 – Jarrow Formulas®, Inc., a global wellness and nutritional product company headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, has announced the launch of ChoLess Optimizer®, which combines red yeast rice extract with clinically tested amounts of artichoke extract, tocotrienols and sesame seed lignans.

ChoLess Optimizer® contains a unique specialty high potency source of sesame seed lignans called SesaPlex™.  SesaPlex™ is a proprietary source of 30 percent sesamin and 10 percent sesamolin, the two most active lignans found in sesame seeds.  The blood lipids supportive effects of sesame lignans in humans have been well established in clinical trials.  These sesame seed lignans not only influence LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, but also support healthy blood glucose, blood pressure, reduced C-reactive protein and a healthy ratio of HDL to LDL cholesterol.

Artichoke extract in a clinically tested amount is included to inhibit the oxidation of LDL cholesterol and to support liver health.  It contains compounds that affect blood lipid health through cholesterol elimination pathways.

Also included in the formula in a clinically tested amount is tocotrienols.  Structurally similar to tocopherols, the molecules most often referred to as Vitamin E, tocotrienols, unlike tocopherols, demonstrate properties affecting blood lipids levels. Tocotrienols help to protect cardiovascular function by alterring the biosynthesis of cholesterol and reducing the oxidation of LDL cholesterol.

“ChoLess Optimizer® targets the primary pathways involved in cholesterol synthesis and elimination with a comprehensive formula that goes beyond cholesterol to address the issue of normal inflammatory response,” explains Dallas Clouatre, Ph.D, who spearheads Product Development for Jarrow Formulas. “The focus is to supply clinically tested amounts of defined ingredients with multiple mechanisms of action to yield consistent results.”

The suggested retail price (SRP) for Jarrow Formulas’ ChoLess Optimizer is $39.95 for a bottle of 120 tablets. Recommended usage is 2 tablets 2 times per day or as directed by your qualified health care consultant.
